On September 21, twenty-three-year-old Dormont musician Christian Sluka was killed while riding his motorcycle. Allegheny police later arrested Saul Rivera-Ramirez, an undocumented illegal immigrant, who allegedly fled the scene on foot from his red Ford Taurus after hitting Sluka. He has been charged with homicide by vehicle and driving without a license and is being held at the Allegheny County jail without bond.
Allegheny County police issued the following statement to Channel 11 news: “During their investigation, detectives learned Rivera-Ramirez is not a United States Citizen and is an undocumented immigrant. Detectives contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and we would defer any further questions about Rivera-Ramirez’s immigration status to that agency.”

An ICE spokesperson also sent Channel 11 news the following statement: “ERO Philadelphia can confirm that Saul Ramirez-Rivera is a noncitizen who is in the United States unlawfully. Ramirez-Rivera was previously removed from the United States and unlawfully re-entered, without admission or parole by an immigration official. Following his arrest, ERO Philadelphia lodged an Immigration Detainer with the Allegheny County Jail. ERO Philadelphia anticipates ACJ will not honor the immigration detainer given its current policies.”
“He was the best person I knew in my entire life, and he was the greatest role model I had”, Sluka’s cousin, Noah Goisse, said. A post from Sydney Goisse on a GoFundMe page dedicated to Sluka read, “On Saturday, September 21st, we tragically lost a son, brother, cousin, nephew, and friend. Christian was a selfless, hardworking, and talented individual, and his community and family will forever be changed without him.”
During the Biden-Harris administration, Border Patrol agents have encountered more than 7 million foreign nationals attempting to cross unlawfully into the country. At least 375 of those arrested are on the federal government’s terrorist watchlist, a 3,000% increase in apprehended suspected terrorists compared to the Trump administration. Since 2021, more than 500,000 unaccompanied alien children have crossed the border without a parent or guardian. In a letter to President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, lawmakers accused the administration of failing these unaccompanied migrant children “by rushing them out of the custody of your Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement into the hands of unvetted sponsors who often continue to exploit and abuse them.”
In June, twelve-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was found strangled to death in a Houston, TX creek. Two Venezuelan nationals who crossed illegally into the U.S. earlier this year were charged with her murder. During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the Biden-Harris border, Jocelyn’s mother Alexis Nungaray said, “Because of the Biden-Harris administration open border policies, catch and release, they were enrolled in the Alternatives to Detention program…This meant that they were released into the United States. It was not even a full three weeks later that they would take my daughter Jocelyn Nungaray’s life.” House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Fox News that the hearing was meant to highlight the “real cost” of illegal immigration in communities across America and the “untold numbers of families who suffered” due to the Biden-Harris administration’s border policies.
In August, it was reported that Daniel Hernandez-Martinez, an illegal migrant from Venezuela and suspected member of the “Tren de Aragua” gang, allegedly committed at least twenty-two criminal offenses in New York over six months after he was released into the country by the Biden-Harris administration. This comes as the NYPD has started cracking down on Tren de Aragua gang members, who are committing many crimes in the city including retail theft, extortion, robberies, and human trafficking.
During a House Homeland Security Committee hearing earlier this month, Patty Morin testified that her daughter Rachel was allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant from El Salvador last year in Maryland. In her statement, she said, “An illegal immigrant that got away from El Salvador had waited for her on the trail. I was told that they grabbed her, dragged her through the woods, raped her, strangled her, and murdered her. We were told that her body was blanketed in bruises.” The mother of five’s body was found stuffed in a culvert, and the suspect was found ten months later. The illegal immigrant has also been accused of murder in his home country and raping a mother and her 9-year-old daughter in Los Angeles.
During the same hearing, House members released a report accusing the Biden-Harris administration of launching an “assault on the rule of law” in its handling of the crisis at the southern border. “Biden, Harris, and Mayorkas were entrusted with the responsibility to secure the border, enforce the law, and keep Americans safe. They have not only broken that trust, but willfully cast aside their sacred obligation to the American people.”, they said in the report.
Earlier this month, 158 House Democrats voted against the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, a resolution that would designate noncitizens convicted of sex offenses or domestic violence inadmissible to and deportable from the U.S.
