Out of 200 of the largest cities, Pittsburgh received high scores for its Irish pubs and restaurants, hotel prices, and city safety and accessibility.
WalletHub conducted the study, and analyst Chip Lupo said, “St. Patrick’s Day celebrates the Irish, but it’s become a beloved cultural holiday for millions of Americans regardless of their ancestry. The best cities for St. Patrick’s Day combine rich traditions with tasty and affordable food, safe conditions to celebrate, and good weather.”
Pittsburgh boasts one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day parades in the United States. The parade will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 10:00am in Downtown Pittsburgh.
The parade begins at the intersection of Liberty Avenue and 11th Street and concludes at Commonwealth Place.
According to Visit Pittsburgh, the tour typically attracts 200,000 to 350,000 spectators. More than 200 marching units, bands, and floats participate.
The city hosts a variety of other events to celebrate the holiday, from a parade day Mass at St. Patrick’s Church to the Parade Day Dash including a 5K and a 1-mile family fun run/walk.
Prior to the parade, a Kegs & Eggs party will be held in Market Square. It will be followed by live performances, food trucks, and yard games at Pittsburgh Brewing Company.
A bar crawl complete with green beers and multiple stops will be happening in the South Side.
