Ballot Return Sites and Satellite Voting Locations will be Offered in Allegheny County for November Election

The county plans to offer several ballot return sites and satellite voting locations for early voting prior to Election Day.

Ahead of Election Day, Allegheny County is offering options for voters to cast their ballots earlyFour satellite voting locations will be made available by the county Elections Division.

Additionally, ten ballot-return sites will be operating leading up to the November election. Voters will be able to utilize the return sites to vote early.

The ballot-return sites will eliminate the need for voters to send their ballots by mail. Employees will be operating the sites during their hours of operation, rather than ballots being dropped into a drop box.

The satellite locations will allow residents to request, complete, and return their ballots in just one single visit

The sites were first utilized in 2020 but stopped because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2024, County Executive Sara Innamorato restarted the program

On Monday, the Board of Elections voted unanimously to approve the plan.

“I applaud this resolution in the balance of keeping voter availability throughout the county, and at the same time reducing time when you can to appreciate the taxpayer dollars being spent,” said board member Cindy Kirk.

The satellite locations are located in Pittsburgh, Wexford, and Bethel Park. Return sites are located across the county, with set hours of operation.

The county elections department also plans to offer satellite voting services and collect mail-in ballots from the lobby of the County Office Building during its regular business hours.

According to county elections manager Dave Voye, mail-in ballots will likely begin to be sent out during the first week of October.
