Nearly every month, Americans are faced with headlines about record-breaking numbers of illegal border crossings. Among the multiple concerns for those outraged at Biden’s lack of action to secure the border is the potential impact on American elections. There is plenty of evidence of non-citizens registering to vote, though many eventually get caught and removed from voter rolls.
Recently, former President Trump teamed up with GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson to tout legislation requiring individuals registering to vote to provide proof of citizenship. Previous efforts to implement the same reform were unsuccessful. One argument for this reform is that many states provide state ID cards for non-citizens, and some of those states also offer voter registration when obtaining a state ID.
While it remains illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections, more municipalities are allowing them to vote in local elections. This provides another potential avenue for non-citizens to cast ballots in federal elections.
Yet without ever casting a vote, the millions of illegal immigrants in the country are already having an impact on our elections. When the Census is counted every ten years, everyone is counted: American citizens, legal residents, illegal immigrants, and every status in between. The tally of all people in the United States—including non-Americans here legally and illegally—is used to reapportion seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Non-citizens residing in the country legally join with illegal immigrants to inflate a state’s population for the purposes of representation in Congress, and as a result, a state’s Electoral College count. Despite not being eligible to vote, these non-citizens effectively have a vote in Congress because of the way the Census counts.
Earlier this year, Tennessee Senator Bill Hagerty introduced legislation that would prevent illegal immigrant populations from being counted for the purposes of congressional apportionment. The bill later failed when 51 Democrats voted against it as an amendment to other legislation.
Democrats want illegal immigrants to come to their sanctuary cities in order to keep their seats in Congress and determine Electoral College votes. I’m introducing legislation that would take away their incentive to do that. pic.twitter.com/0XneaZECWA

Therefore, it should be no surprise that four of the top six states with illegal immigrant populations are reliably democrat as the voting majority. Those states are California, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois, with Texas and Florida rounding out the top six. According to the same Pew research, these states have been at the top of the list for nearly 35 years. Blue states have a vested interest in ensuring as many illegal immigrants as possible enter the United States and settle in their state.
But these lax border policies for electoral gain come with grave national security risks. The number of illegal border crossers on the terrorist watch list apprehended by Border Patrol has increased 2,500% according to information released by the House Homeland Security Committee.
Now, President Joe Biden wants to import thousands of Palestinians into the United States as “refugees” while Israel wages a war against a terrorist group elected by those same Palestinians to serve as a government. Opponents to this idea raise the question of how those entering the country would be vetted.
