The Democratic National Committee launched a new website Wednesday to show alleged potential downsides for residents of different states from President Trump’s tax bill. The website attempts to focus on what different financial bills would look like under the legislation, including energy, health insurance and paychecks. The website appears to be an effort by the Democrat party to make the “Big, Beautiful Bill” a focal point of the 2026 midterm elections.
The website went live just four days before President Trump would celebrate the six-month anniversary of his second inauguration. The site covers what the impact of the bill would be on different states, including the battleground states of Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. In 2024, both states flipped for Trump after supporting President Biden’s 2020 bid. The site, TrumpTax.com, claims to “highlight Pennsylvania data about the Trump Tax with one underlying truth – if you’re not a billionaire, the Trump tax will screw you over.” The site uses the same language for each of the states that it covers.
The website offers citations from several publications, including the Associated Press and the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. Most of the citations come from left-leaning outlets or organizations, and do not include any of the data points Republicans highlighted in support of Trump’s bill, including the erroneous report that the “Big, Beautiful Bill” slashes Medicaid for eligible Americans.
In a statement, DNC Chair Ken Martin accused President Trump and the GOP of “robbing” Pennsylvanians to help fellow billionaires. Martin also knocked Trump for the tariffs that were put in place earlier this year. Democrats published several studies at the time arguing the tariffs were “radical” and would cause hyper-inflation. But CBS News admitted earlier this month that Trump’s tariffs, many of which never went into place and were used as negotiating tactics to secure favorable trade deals, have not led to the price spike Democrats anticipated.
“Donald Trump promised to lower costs on Day One, but six months into his disastrous second term, he’s robbing working Pennsylvanians to fund tax handouts for his billionaire backers,” said Martin. According to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation actually decreased in May, one month after a majority of President Trump’s tariffs went into place. Martin did not specify which prices in Pennsylvania had increased. According to Martin, the DNC created the website to show “dire effects” the new Trump tax bill is already having on working class Americans across different states. Democrats further accused tariffs of costing Pennsylvania businesses over $1.6 billion in the first six months of Trump’s second term.
The President traveled to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh to attend Sen. Dave McCormick’s (R-PA) inaugural energy summit. At the event, the two Republicans announced massive new investments in Pennsylvania’s energy and tech sectors that are expected to create thousands of jobs. Sen. McCormick voted in favor of the “Big, Beautiful Bill”.
