‘Hershey’ Movie Being Filmed in Pennsylvania

The movie will tell the story of Milton Hershey and his iconic Pennsylvania company.

In May, the “Hershey” movie began filming in Western Pennsylvania. The film will tell the story of Milton Hershey’s famous company.

Filming began in Harmony, Butler County. Notable cast members include Finn Whitrock as Milton Hershey and Alexandra Daddario as Kitty Hershey. Mark Waters is directing the film.

Filming is set to take place in and around Pittsburgh through June 27thMilton Hershey founded his iconic company in 1894. The film will tell the story of its creation.

Hershey Company president and CEO Michele Buck said in a news release, “Milton Hershey’s story exemplifies the American Dream. This movie will reveal how Milton and Kitty built something far greater than a chocolate company. Their legacy extends beyond sweet treats to education, community, and opportunity for thousands. We’re proud to support a film that shares the full Hershey story – one of resilience, vision and impact that continues to inspire today.”

According to the Pittsburgh Film Office, movies and TV shows are filming in the region because of Pennsylvania’s film tax credit of $100 million.

The tax credit is an incentive for filmmakers to create entertainment in Pennsylvania. It promotes the hiring of local cast and crew and generates $0.80 for the economy for every $1 of film industry output.

Marty Stewart of Plum worked background on the movie on the first day of shooting in Ligonier. “I was hoping that the outdoor time wouldn’t be that extensive. But, everybody was in the same boat, we made it through. The crew, the director, the producers, they made sure that despite the weather, we were going to have fun, and we did!” Stewart said

The community surrounding Pittsburgh has witnessed the film crew and actors creating the movie that will depict a classic Pennsylvania story.

Actors walked around adorned in costumes, old buildings served as the set, and production teams were busy setting the stage and creating the film.

Some businesses had to close down for shooting days but were compensated for their time. Their storefronts were used as filming locations and will appear in the film, which is set to be released in 2026.
