Jon Delano, Pennsylvania’s longest-serving TV political analyst, will retire from his role at KDKA-TV on December 1st after a distinguished career spanning 30 years. Delano joined the station in 1994 and has been a constant presence during key political events, offering in-depth analysis of local and national issues, from gubernatorial races to presidential campaigns.
Delano’s impact extended beyond political analysis. As Money & Politics Editor, he helped shape KDKA’s coverage of business, government, and economic issues, earning a reputation as a household name in the region. His career includes hosting the “Sunday Business Page” segments, co-hosting the “KD/PG Sunday Edition,” and creating “Inside PA Politics,” a program featuring young political activists.
Though Delano is retiring from his full-time role, he said he may return occasionally to provide political insights and interviews. “It’s been the greatest honor of my life to work with such terrific colleagues at KDKA over the last three decades,” said Delano. “I’ve had the privilege of interviewing many of the top leaders in our nation and commonwealth, asking the questions most Pennsylvanians would ask if they had the chance.”
Delano’s work earned him countless awards, including the Edward R. Murrow Award and multiple Golden Quill, Robert L. Vann, and Clarity awards. His final day as a full-time KDKA employee will be Monday, November 25, with on-air tributes scheduled during the 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. broadcasts.
My last day on air at @KDKA. Watch both the 5 & 6 pm retrospective of my career written by the inimitable @CoreyMartin78 with comments by @kenricepgh @kristinekdka & @Kymgable. Special thanks to all of you who supported my work over these last 30 years!https://t.co/UpBgyd5LXN
