Erin Koper, a Pennsylvania woman and self-described “grassroots organizer” from Pittsburgh, addressed the RNC in Milwaukee, Wisconsin about how illegal drugs and crime were impacting her community.
Koper spoke of the “front row seat” she’s had to Democrats’ “soft on crime” policies as enacted by Pittsburgh’s leading Democratic officials: Mayor Ed Gainey, Congresswoman Summer Lee, and county executive Sara Innamorato.
Koper decried the “defund the police on steroids” policies put in place by Pittsburgh Democrats that have seen cuts in the police force and led to “soaring” police response times. She pointed out that 2022 saw 122 murders in Allegheny County, one of the deadliest years on record.
In her speech, Koper recounted her personal experiences with crime, like the time she was chased by a homeless person and seen tent cities sprout up around the block from her residence.
Koper compared Pittsburgh’s decline to “what the Democrats did to San Francisco,” the hometown of Vice President Kamala Harris, the likely 2024 Democratic nominee.
To conclude her speech, Koper pointed out that a candidate supported by Democratic mega-donor George Soros lost the recent election for district attorney and pledged that Republicans would fight to restore America’s cities.
It’s rare for local officials to receive shout-outs at national party conventions. Ed Gainey, Summer Lee, and Sara Innamorato have Erin Koper to thank for taking her views of their records to a national platform like the Republican National Convention.
