U.S. Department of Homeland Security Offers Payment to Illegal Aliens that Self-Deport

The department is offering $1,000 to illegal immigrants that self-deport as part of an ongoing effort to curb illegal immigration to the United States.

The Department of Homeland Security recently announced that it would give $1,000 to illegal immigrants that self-deport to their native countries.

Illegal immigrants must confirm through the Customs and Border Patrol Home app that they have returned to their home country. The app is also allowing eligible illegal aliens to request financial assistance from the federal government to book tickets and get travel documentation to return home.

Illegal aliens who submit their intent to self-deport on the app will also be deprioritized in deportation proceedings, including physical removal from their place of residence and detention.

According to analysis, more than 40,000 illegal immigrants have registered with the government so far.

The Department of Homeland Security is emphasizing voluntary departure from the United States as the most comfortable option for illegal immigrants.

“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest, and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest. DHS is now offering illegal aliens financial travel assistance and a stipend to return to their home country through the CBP Home App,” Secretary Kristi Noem said.

“This is the safest option for our law enforcement, aliens, and is a 70% savings for U.S. taxpayers. Download the CBP Home App TODAY and self-deport,” she added.

The department currently estimates the average cost of forcibly removing an illegal alien to be $17,121. Even with the offer of $1,000 per individual, the average cost of deportation would be reduced by 70% to $4,500.

These efforts coincide with President Trump prioritizing homeland security and an end to the border crisis and illegal immigration to the United States.

Since Trump took office, his administration has said it has removed over 100,000 illegal aliens from the country. The administration’s goal is to deport at least 1 million illegal aliens during its first year.

President Trump’s administration hopes to increase deportations after Congress passes a budget reconciliation bill, which may provide additional funding towards deportation efforts.
